CLEANING
FibreDecor is very soil
resistant, but if necessary, can be easily cleaned by lightly
misting with a soapy cold water solution then wiping with a dry
cloth. Dust is simply removed with a vacuum.
REMOVAL
When you're ready for a change
again, FibreDecor is easy to remove by totally saturating with
hot water and scraping off the wall or by simply removing with a
pad type wallpaper steamer. For a simple change of colour,
FibreDecor can be painted and will retain its textured look.
FibreDecor Designer Wall Coatings
are Durable Roll On Fabric Finishes with a Wide Range of
Designer Colours.
NO SEAMS
NO MESS
NO ODOUR
NO TOXINS
NO FIBERGLASS
NO ASBESTOS
Never worry about matching seams
or patterns. FibreD ecor
covers odd configurations such as stairwells beautifully where
wallpaper and other coverings are ineffective. With FibreDecor
there are no lengthy wall preparations, no time-consuming
matching of patterns, seams or corners and best of all, there's
no mess. FibreDecor's one coat, odourless application with its
special "roller applicator" guarantees a seamless,
professional looking finish that dries within a day or two.
HELPFUL HINTS
Before mixing product,
reserve some dry Fibre Decor for future repairs, instead of
having to store wet mixture in freezer. If dry Fibre Decor is
not stored, reserve some wet mixture in freezer for repairs.
Apply Fibre Decor at any
temperature above 50º F. Allow longer drying time when
applying at lower temperatures.
The more defects the Fibre
Decor has to fill, the least amount of square footage you
will achieve. To achieve maximum square footage, fill all
grooves or defects with poly filler (joint compound), and allow
to cure. Then follow application instructions.
For added protection, you
may spray your dry, finished walls with a fabric protector to
further enhance Fibre Decor's own stain resistance. Example:
Scotch Guard.
If you're interested in a
clear protector for sealing product, we recommend using:
Dream Water Dispursed Polyurethane made by Petri, available at
Sherwin Williams or Clear Protector made by Duramax. The above
sealers are sold in the following shines: Flat: looks like
original Fibre Decor ; Satin: slight to Fibre Decor; Gloss:
makes Fibre Decor look like plastic. The reparability and
reusability features will be lost.
To clean, lightly mist
slightly soiled areas with a mild (noncolored) detergent and
wipe with a damp cloth. You can even vacuum it clean. If mud
that is wet gets on Fibre Decor, wait until mud is dry before
you try to clean.
If your walls get nicked or
scarred or if an area becomes extremely dirty, saturate the
damaged area with water until Design-R Wall® is back to its
original consistency. When the Design-R Wall® is pliable and
the material moves with your finer, simply scrape it off.
In small areas: you can
then blend Fibre Decor from the surrounding area into the
scarred area.
For larger areas: saturate
surrounding areas until material softens. Apply leftover Fibre
Decor blending and feathering the edges to avoid a patched look.
SURFACE PREPARATION
IMPORTANCE OF UNDERCOATING
FibreDecor is a water based
product which can take from 24- 48 hours to dry. For this
reason, it is very important to seal the surface on which
FibreDecor is being applied to prevent it from bleeding through
the FibreDecor and staining it. Special care must be taken on
surfaces where high staining agents, such as nicotine, exist to
ensure the surface is well sealed before application of
FibreDecor. Wash all surfaces with TSP cleaner unless oil based
primer is required. "T.S.P." - Trisodium Phosphate.
Use only white pigmented primers.
HIGH GLOSS / SEMI-GLOSS PAINT
Rough up surface by washing with
TSP solution or prime with one coat of High Quality Primer
Sealer / Stain Killer.
UNPAINTED SURFACES
One coat of High Quality Primer
Sealer / Stain Killer is required. Two coats might be needed on
new drywall or plaster to provide a well-sealed surface and a
solid white background.
LATEX PAINTED
On surfaces painted with two or
more coats of flat white paint, it is safe to apply FibreDecor
providing that the paint has cured for a minimum of 40 days or
more and the wall has been washed to ensure it is absolutely
clean.
NOTE: It is always
recommended to seal most unsealed surfaces with a High Quality
Primer Sealer / Stain Killer before applying FibreDecor. In some
cases, it may be necessary to apply a second coat of primer if
the first coat has not sealed the wall properly and produced a
solid white background. Speeding up the drying process by using
an oscillating fan to blow air on the wall will greatly reduce
the chance of staining due to an insufficiently primed wall.
WOOD PANELLING / WOOD VENEER /
RAW WOOD / CEMENT WALLS / BLOCK WALLS
a) Fill in joints and grooves
with a polyfiller (sanding not required).
b) Two coats of High Quality Oil Based Primer / Sealer / Stain
Killer (allow time to cure between coats).
WALLPAPER
a) Remove wallpaper and prime
surface with High Quality Oil Based Primer Sealer / Stain
Killer.
b) If removal seems impossible, prime thoroughly with a High
Quality Oil Based Primer Sealer / Stain Killer.
c) Be sure surface has solid white background.
NOTE: Failure to properly
seal the surface may cause stains on FibreDecor products!
BATHROOMS / KITCHENS
a) Avoid areas where FibreDecor
will be in direct contact with water.
b) Average humidity will not disturb the surface of FibreDecor
under normal conditions.
c) If extremely high humidity exists, treat wall surface with a
water repellent such as Scotch Guard thoroughly, after
FibreDecor has dried completely.
